Welcome to Inner Child Therapy

Online Counselling and Trauma Therapy providing an Integrative, Humanistic approach

It takes courage to reach out and seek help to resolve a problem that is affecting our lives

Whether it is a current issue or something from our past which is causing us trauma, it can be daunting to accept the fact that we need help. Turning to a psychotherapist or counsellor is often the last path we explore, but it is one which enables us to be listened to, to be heard, to be supported and to be accepted. Together, we can find hope and resolution where perhaps once there was none.

Between a therapist and a patient a relationship is quickly established, laying the foundation for change, growth and healing. Through this relationship, past traumas and emotional and psychological difficulties can potentially be overcome.

My practice is called Inner Child Therapy because I believe there is an inner child in all of us- be it a strong and secure one or one that is hurt and damaged and needs some rebuilding and strengthening.

My use of key psychoanalytic theories alongside other modalities aims to connect with the inner child of my clients, exploring conscious and unconscious feelings to help them overcome any struggles they are facing. I am a counsellor but I work in an analytical way; psychoanalytical theories and processes allow us to explore unconscious feelings that manifest themselves in current and past struggles.

Everyone is unique

When we first work together, I take the time to listen and learn as much as I can about you, your difficulties and background, so that I can gain an understanding of your situation. You will be given the opportunity to talk about what is troubling you in a warm, safe and judgement-free space.

Kindness and curiosity

I work with kindness and curiosity. I will challenge you but also be alongside you so that when you feel able to talk about more difficult things you feel safe enough to do so.

Integrative approach

After our initial consultation, I will draw on a wide range of approaches including Object Relations and Transactional Analysis, as well as other listening and relationship theories to create an integrative approach tailored to your individual needs and focused on your goals.

Individuals and couples

I work with individuals and couples on a short-term or long-term basis helping you to find the answers from within. Through our sessions I create a safe, supportive and confidential space to enable us to explore your situation in depth. Through trust and the relationship we build we work together to reach a place of deeper understanding and insight.

My location

Since lockdown, many therapists have moved online and it has been found to be just as effective as face-to-face therapy sessions. This has also opened up opportunities for clients to work with therapists outside of their local area, giving them more choice and opportunity to find the right therapist for them.

Furthermore, it has given clients the flexibility to arrange a time that suits, with the added bonus of being in the comfort of their own home or any other location of their choosing. This has really helped settle any nerves or worries that clients have before embarking on their journey with a therapist.

Consequently, I will be leading sessions via Zoom and I am available to work with anyone from anywhere in the UK. If you do want a face-to-face session then please contact me to discuss, I am based in Lincolnshire as well as the Cheltenham, Gloucester and Cotswolds area.

Fees & availability

Therapy sessions for individuals and couples last 50 minutes. The first session is a free 30 minute initial consultation so I can find out more about your situation and we can see if we are a good fit to work together. Ideally, I meet with my clients every week to maximise the effect of our work together. Sessions are priced at £60 per session for individuals and £75 per session for couples.

Sessions take place on Zoom, which gives you more time flexibility and takes away the added time stress of transport or parking. I usually work between the hours of 9am and 5pm but please contact me if you would like to discuss any availability arrangements outside of normal office hours, or if you would like a face-to-face session.

If you need to cancel an appointment for any reason, I require 24 hours’ notice. If you are unable to give 24 hours’ notice, you will still need to pay the full fee for the session.

  • Couples: £75 per 50 minute session
